Jay Thomas’ “Lone Ranger” Story

Have a listen to this pretty funny story where Jay Thomas describes getting “herbed-up” and driving home Clayton Moore — otherwise known as the Lone Ranger — from a promotion at a car dealership.

Henry Rollins on Wal-Mart and Junk Mail

Henry can be a little much some time, the punk rock comic schtick is intense, but he’s a good yakker:

One of the “Drawing Conclusions” series… here he is on junk mail:

Bjork inspires somes fancy footsteps

I was thinking about posting a video of Bjork performing her new single “Earth Intruders” on SNL. I’ve always been somewhat indifferent to Bjork, liking some of her tunes, but the SNL performance of Earth Intruders was pretty cool, with the worst part being that it still features a bit too much of Bjork’s trademark shrieking.

The problem is that SNL had YouTube take down the clip. I guess too many people were actually enjoying their show for a change…

I couldn’t find a repost of the clip, but I did manage to find these fancy moves inspired by Bjork’s latest release:

Love Connection: Worst Name Ever

Crazy Speech in Race For Tokyo Governor

This is pretty good, it’s worth a watch.

According to YouTube:

Kouichi Toyama is an extreme left-wing activist (so said the official introduction, although he calls himself a fascist) who was among the ten candidates for the governor of Tokyo, and gave a way-wacky speech.

And some notes on the election results (he got 15,059 votes, or 0.27%):

David Hasselhoff Drunk

It used to be fun to have a laugh at the silly acting and singing antics of David Hasselhoff. But ever since he made a career out of making fun of himself, he’s taken all the fun out of it.

the hoff

But judging by this video of The Hoff loaded, he isn’t dealing very well with being a famous laughing stock.

In fact, it may even be sad, but I find it hard to feel sorry for a guy that says things like:

There are many dying children out there whose last wish is to meet me.

My music in Europe (between 1988 and the last ten years) has been mostly pop, but now I am leaning towards stuff like my good friend Michael Bolton does. That man can sing.

My web site is so fresh. The paint is still wet, but stay tuned, because I have lots of personal things, specifically about what is happening day-to-day, that I will keep updating daily.

I’ve done everything, and I talk about what I’ve learnt through all those journeys: how I tried to save the world and I forgot to save myself.

I’m six foot four, an all-American guy, and handsome and talented as well!

I wanted to play around with the format, really tear it to pieces and shake it up. For example, if Mitch saves someone from drowning, and that person then goes out and releases a virus that kills a million people. Imagine the moral implications of that.

I can go into any hospital in any country and make a kid smile and forget about their pain for a couple of seconds.

What a doofus!

Reggie Watts: Out of Control

This is a very cool tune performed by Reggie Watts. Every sound is made with his mouth, as he loops different beats while singing and basically scatting.

As a rule, I don’t like beatboxing, but this guy takes it to new places.

Sit back, and enjoy.

If you liked that tune by Reggie, here’s another video by a guy named Kid Beyond from San Fran. He’s not as cool as Reggie, and the video is a bit of an ad for the software that allows you do this, but Kid Beyond is still pretty good and it explains how this is all done.

LTJ Bukem Documentary

LTJ Bukem was one of the first DJs to get me into Drum n Bass. His style is more ambient and laid back than a lot of DnB, and he takes you on a little trip with most of his tunes.

The video seems to be a BBC-style, hour-long doc that gives you an interesting glimpse into the life of a touring DJ, along with some hilarious scenes like the bizarre Cockney manager trying to get his shirt ironed in a Japanese hotel.

Here’s part two.
